Profiles 1-13 (17 October) have unusual salinity profiles. The fresher water seen in the first 10 or so metres of the profile may be attributed to a freshwater plume originating from the Fly River, PNG. No historical regional data was present within a 2 degree square of these profiles, so they could not be confirmed. This pattern of salinity was observed in the data collected at the same time and location by HMAS Benalla for HI558BEN_M. These profiles have been marked as okay (1).
