Hundreds of Thousands of Australians at Risk of Financial Hardship

As many as 150,000 Australian households could be pushed into financial hardship if their home loan rate increased out of cycle.

New research from Finder found that one in 20 Australians believed they would be forced to ask for assistance if rates rose out of cycle, while more than half of borrowers would try to negotiate a lower rate.

Currently Australia's cash rate is sitting at the historically low level of 0.10 per cent.

Recipe of the Month:

Potsticker Dumplings

Prep Time: 35 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
500 grams of pork mince
1 cup shredded green cabbage
3 ounces shiitake mushrooms, diced
1 tbsp dry sherry
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 spring onions, thinly sliced
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
2 tsp sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
2 x pack of won ton wrappers
2 tbsp vegetable oil

* Add 1-2 tsp of Sriracha for an extra kick*

Method:

In a large bowl, combine pork, cabbage, mushrooms, garlic, green onions, hoisin, ginger, sesame oil, sherry and white pepper.

Assemble the dumplings by placing wrappers on a clean work surface. Spoon 1 tablespoon of the mixture into the center of each wrapper. Use your finger to apply water to the edges of the wrapper. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, pinch the edges to seal. When finished they should look like a little cornish pastie.

Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Add the dumplings in a single layer, cooking until golden and crisp, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.

Serve with soy sauce, chinese vingar or chili oil for dipping.
