Measurement of Crown-rump Length

Measurement of Crown-rump Length

Click the play button to view the video.

This video shows a live pregnancy - you will see how the sonographer places measurement markers on either end of the fetus to make an assessment of the crown-rump length which reflects how far advanced the pregnancy is - in this case just more than 7 weeks.

Note: Normally, the sonographer would freeze the image before taking measurements. In order to show you how the measurement end points are placed in real time, the cineclip is continued during the measurement process. You can see how the sonographer identifies the longest axis of the embryo and places the measurement end points at either end.
